Hi Jason

I'm not sure if it is a full transfer or you already have a share of the property.

If it is full transfer, it is just like buying a new condo, the stamp duty is about 3% of purchase price - $5,400. If a bank loan is taken, the bank could subsidise you about 0.4% of your loan amount. The lawyer fee is about $2,200-$2,800 minus the bank subsidy.

If you have part share of the property, it will be a fractional purchase in which the lawyer fees could be about $3,000-$3,500. Again the bank can subsidise the amount if you are taking a bank loan.

The next issue is are you joint tenants (JT) or tenants in common (TC). In the case of JT the buying share is 50%, in TC you have to buy over your brother's share. A valuer have to do a valuation and the bank can provide one if you wish to take a loan from them. Stamp duty is about the same as above if the condo is > $700k.

If it is a fractional purchase, it is slightly complicated. I can brief you more about it.
