Hi, I am the tenant of one unit room and my 2 years lease will end 31July. My agent only informed me on 14July that landlord wants to terminate my lease for renting out whole unit instead just one unit room. In the agreement, one point stated “ The Landlord and the Tenant agree to give 2 months notice of intention to terminate or renew before the expiry of the lease. In the absence of such notice, an amount in lieu of the notice period will be payable. Deposit will be forfeited and prorated agency fee to be refunded to the landlord if tenancy less than two years.” This clause seems protecting more to landlord.
Initially, the agent said landlord allowed me to stay until 31Aug to give me ample time but now thing changed and landlord asked to move out 31July. If I insisted to stay until 31Aug, I will need to bear the renewal cost until 31Aug.
Could anyone please advise what action I should take or do in this case? Thanks in advance!
