Hi, I just sold my landed property recently, and during the option the purchase, the agent on my side asked for ADDITIONAL commission to the buyer's agent for a total of $10k. However, when I received the invoice, only the name of the agency who handled my side of the transaction was shown.

Is it legal to ask for more commission for the buyer's side agent? Do I have an obligation to pay the buyer's side agent as a general rule of thumb?

Why do I have to pay GST for the buyer's side agent as well?

How do I verify if the amount in question will really be received by the buyer's side agent? How do I verify if the amount was even promised to him?

Is the agent on my side obliged to give me the buyer's side agent information truthfully if I request it? Or is there a way I can check on the agent's name and contact number from any website?
