Hi Ivan,

Your banker is correct.

If you are buying HDB and have sufficient CPF O/A fund, you dont have to pay in cash for stamp fee, direct deduction from CPF O/A.

If you are buying pte property, stamp fee of 1st $180k (1%), 2nd $180k (2%), and balance (3%) must be in cash. This can later be reimbursed from your CPF O/A if it has sufficient fund.

Your banker is absolutely right. You need to come up with the cash for stamp duty and later can reimburse from CPF.
