Hi - when negotiating how much should I ask the landlord to knock off the rent?

Hi Steevo,
Not all landlords put up ridiculous or high price for rental. To quote you a simple example, you do know that there are periods where supermarkets offer certain discounts for their products but do you negotiate for a discount with the supermarket for a product that is not on discount for a discounted price since all items already have a price tag?
First and foremost for consideration is to study the area you wish to reside in for the prices to see if they fit into your budget and make a reasonable offer. Like you, landlords are also aware of the market sentiments and as long as the offer is right, you are likely to secure the tenancy, of course there are landlords who are unrealistic and price their unit out of market.
