If your HDB is still under MOP, your wife will not be able to purchase a private property. She will be eligible after MOP but loan has to be under her name.

Hi Sir,

If the bank loan is under your name, it means you have to be owner as well. Borrower of loan needs to be owner as well. Also, if you both are already legally married, the MOP of 5 years of the current flat must be met before she can purchase private property on her own name.

Hi Sir,

It is not possible because under the MAS ruling, only the home owner can apply for a loan under his or her name. Therefore, in this case, your wife can only use her sole income to support the loan application and will not be able to take your income into consideration.

Hi,

1) In order for you to get a loan for a property. You must be one of the owners of the property.
2) The bank will plant a caveat to the property title to protect their interest.
3) Legally the bank cannot bring someone to the court who is not the owner when there is a default in the mortgage payment.
4) Therefore your plan of buying a private property under your spouse's name only and a bank loan under yours could not be worked out.
