I'm getting 55 years old on next year. I'm living in 7 years old 4 rooms hdb flat in CCK area. Any idea I can use my CPF ordinary account instead of trap in the retirement sum when reach 55 for upgrade to 5 rooms or biggest flat?

Hi,

We can write in to CPF to reserve certain eligible CPF OA amount for housing before you reach 55 years old, and to be used after you turn 55 years old. Another way could be to utilize the CPF OA fully on the purchased property before you turn 55.

You have an option to upgrade now so the funds won’t be locked in the RA, before you turn 55. If you only intend to make your move after turning 55, then you will need to write in to CPF to request for them to keep your CPF available after the sale of your current place for you to purchase another unit. This will be subjected to approval by CPF on case by case basis, therefore I suggest you to take actions sooner rather than later if the finances do fall into place correctly.
