Just would like to know whether i'm able to cancel buying resale flat prior to first appointment with HDB. Check with agent and he said that i have to pay compensation fee to owner and agent. what is usual practise and max sum i have to pay to owner and agent. Thank you.

Hi Aung Myo,
If you cancel your first appointment, this means withdrawing from purchase. Both agents can claim their service commission loss against you. The seller can also claim his loss in re-sell difference against you. However, if you have very valid and life threatening obstacle to proceed with the buy, speak with all agents and seller to gather their understanding to compromise to minimise their loss.
