It is not only about the income right now that matters but like what Mike has mentioned, how much are you eligible to loan up to as well as how comfortable are you in financing the purchase. All Singaporeans are given the opportunity to enjoy the housing grant of about $40k, however, do not be short-sighted by this $40k savings while you miss the opportunity to put your money in a project which can give you better capital returns upon selling. Finding the right balance is important. Many, like yourself, are also seeking the 2nd property for passive income, but with the current climate, it makes it difficult to do so therefore the opportunity of investment in overseas property comes along.
