My brother is filing a divorce and the HDB is solely under his name.
Question-
1. During the process can he sell away the HDB flat?
2. Can he don't give a cent to the wife after sold the flat, as she does not contribute anything
3. As the process take about 1-2 years, if we engage a lawyer will it speed up?
4. How much the lawyer cost?

Afternoon William,

Even though the unit is purchased under your brother's name, the women charter actually allow the wife to claim for 50% of the cash profit. To prevent all this complication, I would advice the selling, after the court order have being issued, which will iron out the disputes. Depending on the basis of the divorce, the time taken may range from 3 months to 5 years, max. Engaging private lawyer definitely beats used legal aide, but the cost will be different. As for the charges, it will be dependable on the complexity of your case.

Hi Gooday William..! Divorce cases normally take abt 5-6+mths or more to complete n cost ard $3-4k+(includg $320/stamp fee)depeng on its complexity. Anyway, i'm very specialised in Handling Divorce cases hwvr difficult or complex.
