My downstairs unit's agent told me that my pipe leakage problem had cause a flood in their unit and damage their flooring and wardrobe & they ask for $2,000 compensation. I was told that a claim could only take place if the complainant could produce evidence to prove that the damage suffered was cause by my negligent act. In this case the problem was due to a concealed pipe leakage which was cause by wear and tear of an old building beyond my control.Must I pay?
