1) There are 3 main factors that you, as a foreigner, have to be aware of:
(a) A foreigner cannot have any ownership of a landed property.
(b) A foreigner cannot have any ownership in an HDB flat.
(c) A foreigner is subject to a 60% ABSD (Additonal Buyer Stamp Duty) on top of the normal buyer stamp duty.
2) You may be added as an owner in a private residential property such as a condominium, apartment, etc, non-landed residential property.
3) It is true a younger and higher-income person can extend the mortgage payoff period. The amount of extension shall mainly depend on the above factors highlighted.
4) The minimum property ownership must not be less than 1%. The ABSD and BSD are based on the value of the amount of share of ownership.
5) You only need a conveyance lawyer to effect the addition of ownership. He will be able to advise you on the whole conveyance process.
