Singaporean with Malaysian wife that has a property at East Malaysia. Able to purchase resale HDB with 1 Owner(singaporean) and 1 essentially occupier(malaysian) ?
And in this context, will the essential occupier be subjected to property tax?

Good afternoon,

your wife has to sell off her overseas property and observe 15 months waiting period first before you can apply for HFE to buy under non citizen spouse scheme.

Unless both of you are 55 years old and above, you can buy up to a 4rm flat after disposal of overseas property.

Your wife has to dispose overseas property, wait out 15 months, before you guys are eligible to purchase resale HDB. It doesn't matter even though she is occupier.

Unfortunately, because of ownership on the East Malaysia property, both of you are ineligible to purchase a resale HDB. Your wife will need to relinquish her ownership in that property and wait out for 15 months period before you can look into purchasing a resale HDB, unless both of you are 55 years old or above, then you can purchase a resale 4room or smaller unit immediately. She will still need to relinquish her ownership for the property in East Malaysia.

As an essential occupier, there is no property tax.
