we signed a 12 month lease, which includes an option to renew for 6 months if we want. The property is up for enbloc sale, which is why our term of lease was changed from 24 months to 12 months. To help cover moving costs in the event of enbloc sale, there was a supplementary clause added, which we thought meant we would have the last month of the tenancy agreement waived. however, we have just reviewed and it states that we can only exercise that right (to have the last month waived) after 12 months. Yet the agreement is only for 12 months. My question: is that legal to put terms in a contract that extend beyon the actual period of the contract? do we have a case to argue the 12th month fees are waived?
