Evening Vingmed,

Rent prices between HDB and apartment in Singapore have become competitively on par.

It's goes down to individual on financial ability, preferred lifestyle etc.

If there's anything I can assist with your relocation, feel free to contact me.

Happy 2013!

Warmest Regards,

Hi Vingmed,

$8k monthly salary is pretty decent to get a single bedder private residential property for rental. In fact there are still plenty of household in Singapore where combined income is way below $8k. Given that you will be here with your wife only, and considering that you will want to put away a decent portion of your income as savings, you may wish to work on a $3k rental budget, which would likely get you a decent 2 bedroom apartment in a small private residential project near Maritime Square (probably Pasir Panjang area). Typical household in Singapore can get by monthly with $3k expenses subjected to your lifestyle, which means you have a good $2k to work with for savings and some enjoyment. Of course the above breakdown differs person to person therefore should not be taken as default.

I am marketing a 2 bedrooms apartment in Pasir Panjang at the moment therefore if you are keen, I can arrange viewing for you as soon as possible.

Hi Vingmed

I think the 1st question is how much of the salary would you want to allocate for housing.

The 2nd question is what would the allocated amount buy you the types of housing.

You may email to gavin.ng@orangetee.com should you need any further questions.
