Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) announced yesterday that it will open the hotels at Sentosa IR on January 20, but those who want to play at the casino or visit Universal Studios Singapore will still have to wait for a while.
Announcing the much awaited opening date, RWS said that on January 20, four of the six hotels will start its operations, along with ten restaurants and lounges.
The four hotels are Hotel Michael, Crockfords Tower, Festive Hotel and the Hard Rock Hotel Singapore. Restaurants and lounges are located on the second level of the Festive Hotel and include modern patisserie Boulangerie, while Indian restaurant Rang Mahal will operate on the second floor of the Hard Rock Hotel.
The 500-metre IR theme park, FestiveWalk will feature restaurants helmed by celebrity chefs, clubs and retail outlets. The theatre is also set to open in the next two months, said RWS spokesman, Robin Goh.
He added that the testing of rides has started and that the theatre is ready for use. The first event, the ChildAid charity concert, was announced last month.
No exact date was given on when the casino will start its operation, but according to Mr. Goh, it is likely to be in the first quarter of 2010, saying that an application was made to local officials.
