Global property services firm Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), in partnership with law firm Blake Dawson, has launched the Asia Pacific Property Investment Guide 2012, a comprehensive guide on the operation of real estate markets across Asia Pacific.
The guide, now in its second edition, discusses the fundamentals of real estate investment in 16 major markets across Asia Pacific, including operational requirements for foreign corporations, property tenure, major property legislation, tax matters, foreign investment incentives, exchange controls to real estate investment trusts and restrictions on property ownership.
As the global economic uncertainty weighs in on investor sentiment, the Asia Pacific Property Investment Guide 2012 now features an online version, which includes country comparison tools that could aid investors in their investment decisions.
“Real estate markets are frequently subject to changes in regulation by government departments and statutory bodies affecting foreign investors,” said Dr. Megan Walters, Head of Research for Asia Pacific Capital Markets at JLL.
She added that the Asia Pacific countries they report on have diverse rules governing real estate.
As for Blake Dawson Singapore, Rhonda Hare, a partner, said they continue to see strong interest in Asia and Australia’s property sectors, particularly from US and European clients.
“The markets in Asia continue to provide opportunities – but dealing within these complex markets requires an understanding of the legal requirements for doing business in these markets and an understanding of the cultural nuances,” she said.
