Singapore developer Far East Organization has appointed South Korean firm Daewoo Engineering and Construction to build The Scotts Tower (pictured), the first Far East SOHO development at a cost of S$112.8 million.

“With Daewoo’s strong engineering capabilities and track record of delivering high quality work on challenging international assignments, we are confident that they will be able to bring to life our vision for The Scotts Tower and the Far East SOHO concept,” said Chng Kiong Huat, Executive Director for Property Services at Far East.

Daewoo has a track record of building many developments in Singapore over the years, but decided to exit the local market in 2009. The firm is now looking to re-establish its presence in Southeast Asia and The Scotts Tower will be one of its first projects.

“We are very pleased to have this opportunity to work on The Scotts Tower, and contribute to bringing Far East’s SOHO lifestyle concept to the market,” said Kang Woo Shin, Executive Vice President for Overseas Business Division at Daewoo E&C.

The 31-storey high-end development comprises 231 units of one- to three-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom penthouses that will come with high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and open layouts.

Designed by Dutch architect Ben van Berkel, The Scotts Tower will feature a unique concept whereby outdoor sky terraces and roof gardens will be integrated into various levels of the project.

Piling works began last month and the project will likely be completed in 2016.
