Property developer CapitaLand and its philanthropic arm CapitaLand Hope Foundation have launched the Because iCare – Kai Kai and Jia Jia Charity Drive, in line with fundraising efforts for President’s Challenge 2012.

Some 200 guests and 50 children’s beneficiaries attended yesterday’s event held at the Giant Panda Forest at River Safari, with President Tony Tan Keng Yam as its guest of honour. The charity drive raised a total of S$200,000 from 10 corporate donors.

“We are pleased to launch the CapitaLand Because iCare – Kai Kai and Jia Jia Charity Drive in support of President’s Challenge. This charity drive combines CapitaLand’s commitment to building a better future for underprivileged children and its efforts towards giant panda conservation as the Presenting Sponsor and Conservation Donor of the Giant Panda Collaborative Programme,” said CapitaLand’s CEO Liew Mun Leong.

Meanwhile, the developer aims to increase total donations to President’s Challenge 2012 to S$350,000 with the sale of specially designed Kai Kai and Jia Jia panda eco-bags, available at 29 participating CapitaLand properties starting from 16 November.

“CapitaLand Hope Foundation is pleased to support President’s Challenge again this year. Since 2008, the Foundation has donated over S$1 million to benefit underprivileged children in Singapore through President’s Challenge,” said its Chairman S R Nathan.
