Govt releases 31 sites under GLS Programme

25 Jun 2013

The government has released 31 sites under its 2H2013 Government Land Sales (GLS) Programme, 11 of which are in the confirmed list while the remaining 20 are on the reserve list.

The confirmed list sites comprise 10 private residential sites, including five executive condominium (EC) sites, and a commercial site (pictured) at Woodlands Avenue 5, according to the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).

Located in the Rest of Central Region and Outside Central Region, the private residential sites can yield around 6,000 private residential units, inclusive of 2,800 EC units. According to the release, the supply of private residential units “comes on top of the record high supply of 100,600 units (including ECs) in the pipeline, of which 39,000 units are still unsold as of the first quarter of 2013.”

Meanwhile, the commercial site at Woodlands Avenue 5 is expected to offer 66,000 sq m gross floor area (GFA) of office space as well as 3,500 sq m GFA of ancillary retail space.

Under the reserve list, there are 14 private residential sites, including five EC sites, one commercial site, three hotel sites, one white site as well as one commercial and residential site. These sites are expected to yield around 199,00 sq m GFA of commercial space, 8,200 private residential units, including 500 EC units, and 960 hotel rooms.

Aside from the GLS Programme, the government has also made available other supply of properties through its various agencies. Among them are localised retail facilities at parks, leasing of vacant state properties for commercial uses and MRT stations and community centres.
