Sydney penthouse sale sets new record

By Andrew Batt:

A new record for the most expensive Australian apartment ever sold has been set with the AUD$21 million (S$25.13 million) purchase of a two-storey penthouse in Sydney.

The prestigious property at Pacific Bondi Beach was purchased by Will Vicars, Chief Investment Officer of Caledonia Investments.  He plans to create a single luxury apartment with unsurpassable ocean views. The apartment will boast an impressive total size of 975 sqm which features 507 sqm of living space and a 468 sqm terrace facing the iconic Bondi Beach.

He said: "I wanted to create a home for my family in Bondi. I love the precinct and the project offered the ultimate lifestyle experience, including laidback living, nearby sophisticated dining and shopping, access to Pacific’s concierge services and the chance to be in the midst of Bondi’s exciting atmosphere."

A stunning re-development of Bondi’s Swiss Grand Hotel, Pacific Bondi Beach took the Sydney property market by storm when it was launched in September 2012. It attracted record sales of AUD$164 million with 74 of the 76 apartments sold within hours.
