British property mogul Marcus Cooper (pictured) plans to transform seven adjacent houses near Regent’s Park in London into a single stuccoed ‘super-mansion’ with an asking price of approximately £200 million (S$392 million).
Overall, the seven-storey property will have 15 bedrooms, 35 bathrooms and 50,000 sq ft of living space, making it London’s largest residential property after the Buckingham Palace.
It will also feature a library, a smoking room, children’s rooms, a banqueting room and a 40ft long private roof garden that is completely hidden from the streets below.
The redevelopment is expected take nearly three years to complete.
The seven Grade I listed Regency houses — Numbers 1 to 2 Chester Gate and Numbers 6 to 10 Cambridge Terrace — was purchased by Cooper for £23.7 million (S$46.4 million) in 2007. These homes were designed by John Nash, the architect of Buckingham Palace.
Furthermore, its £200 million (S$392 million) asking price will make it 1,229 times more expensive than the average UK home which costs £162,606 (S$318,429). The buyer will also have to pay a £14 million (S$27.4 million) stamp duty.
