Parc Oasis owners approve resolution on parking charges

Residents at Parc Oasis (pictured) with more than one car will now be charged with parking fees, after the majority approved such proposal, according to media reports.

Owners of the 950-unit condo in Jurong East were asked at a general meeting on Saturday to back the increased management fees and parking charges by voting. The proposal aims to cover a S$353,000 projected deficit in the maintenance fund for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2014.

The two-part resolution includes an increase in monthly management fees from S$56 to S$59 per share value, and a monthly parking fee of S$100 for a second car and S$150 for every additional vehicle.

Residents who will not pay the parking fees will have to bear higher monthly management fees of S$64 per share value.

Meanwhile, other cost-cutting measures would have been implemented had the resolution been rejected, said the management.

“Some 85 percent of the residents and their proxies voted in favour of this proposal,” said Lim Taik Leong, Chairman of the Management Corporation Strata Title (MCST), adding that around 200 residents and 366 proxies attended the EGM.

“The deficit is still at S$353,000. The money that we generate from the collection of the maintenance fund and the monthly parking charges for second and subsequent cars should cover a major part of the deficit,” noted Lim.
