HDB quality comparable to private condos

Six building contractors will be honoured by HDB for construction excellence at the HDB Construction Awards.

HDB will be conferring seven HDB Construction Awards to recognise achievements in constructing quality public housing projects.

All of the projects achieved high Construction Quality Assessment System (CONQUAS) scores of over 90. According to HDB, this is comparable to the scores achieved by many private sector condominiums.

CONQUAS is the industry’s yardstick for construction quality in Singapore.

Fernvale Foliage in Sengkang by Straits Construction Singapore topped the list with a score of 94.2, the highest ever for a public housing project. Demonstrating constructability and productivity, the contractor converted various cast in-situ concrete structures into precast ones, which contributed to the timely execution of works on site.

The other six projects are Punggol Waves, Treegrove @ Woodlands, Punggol Crest, Rivervale Arc, Floral Spring @ Yishun and Buangkok Vale.

Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan will present the HDB Construction Awards during the HDB Awards ceremony on 10 September 2014.
