New road in Yishun opens

Yishun Avenue 8 opened on Saturday, as an alternative link to the Tampines Expressway (TPE) and Seletar West Link.

Located between Yishun Avenue 6 and Avenue 1 (pictured) and measuring one kilometre, the new two-lane road is near two upcoming Build-To-Order (BTO) projects, Blossom Spring @ Yishun and Meadow Spring @ Yishun, which are slated to be ready in 2018.

Yishun Avenue 8 will also facilitate the traffic flow between Yishun Ave 1 and 6, and to cater to the traffic demand from new developments in Yishun and Sembawang area.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a statement, “Directional and information signs will be placed in advance to inform and guide road users. Motorists are advised to drive carefully when approaching the new road and signalised junctions and observe traffic signal indications.”

In May 2014, the LTA awarded a contract to Feng Ming Construction to construct Yishun Avenue 8, and works for the entire road are scheduled to be completed by Q4 2016.

Yishun Avenue 8 opened on Saturday to facilitate the traffic flow between Yishun Ave 1 and 6, and cater to the traffic demand from the new Yishun properties.
