    Good investment and living environment

    I personally bought a unit at The Linear. We chose the unit facing the road with west sun. Not sure those that commented below have stayed here before. In my opinion, west sun facing is better than east sun facing. My previous home is facing east sun and we sweat like dogs the moment we wake up until afternoon. Over here, cause there are no walls facing the sun, therefore we did not have the hot air feeling at all. Only the time, during haze period, it felt stuffy. Other else, the aircon in the living room is a white elephant. In terms of the noise and pollution, I am a stay at home mum, it is quite a pretty quiet road unless there is some cars who think they are driving F1 cars. This happened once a while. I did not feel any pollution and I open the sliding door all the time cause it is quite windy. The location is supreme!There are so many buses leading to town! I owned this unit for 4 good years and have seen how much the price appreciate. I cannot imagine how much more it will appreciate by 2015 when the MRT line is ready.

    high asking price on the livable units

    Main road facing units are hopelessly noisy and hot, so let's not even discuss them here. Faclities are close to nothing and the tiny driveway means you WILL scratch your big saloon car. East facing units are still ok but latest asking price ($1.45mil!!?) are way too much versus recent transacted price, despite uncertain Singapore market. - Nov12: $1.17mil (1227sqft) facing inward and quiet - Sept12: $1.13mil (1206sqft) facing inward and quiet

    Pros & cons to consider when buying

    The pros are the proximity to future MRT, BPP & Junction 10. Not attractive facilities and half the units with west facing sun and a fairly busy main road. Also very segregated with little opportunity for interactions amongst residents from other blocks. Prices not exactly attractive now, impasse since the Oct 11 transaction without knowing how effective the latest cooling measure will play out.

    half units not suitable for living

    I mean those facing the upper bukit timah road. noisy, dusty, due to MTR construction. hot !!!, very hot !!! need to turn on air con all days. cannot open window at all. The other half units facing Mayspring are okay, but just okay.....

    Unworthy of attention

    Seen some good reviews and decided to view. SImply unworthy of my time and attention. Bad location and noisy. Those good reviews written regarding this project are simply owners who are just hoping to mark up the price so they can flog off their unit.

    Nice Interior but West Sun Facing Rooms (4 reviews )

    West Sun

    Impressed by the interior finishes and layout. Nice house. The killer is the west sun facing living hall and all 3 of the bedrooms! Your furniture will spoil overtime. The west sun facing unit also faces the road i.e. noisy and air quality. The swimming pool is also very far away and needs to take a lift - in my opinion not very convenient. Think the architect has designed it "linearly" to maximise use of land. Perhaps the developer should have left this piece of land as shop houses which i think is more appropriate and not acquire it for residential purpose.

    don't be fooled

    The unit the agent showed us is supposedly a 'penthouse' with 2 levels, but, guess what, the '2nd level' turned out to be a fire escape passage accessed via a staircase hidden at the back of the kitchen! Having recovered from the shock, I proceeded to check out the 'much emphasized' vast balcony. To my horror, as if the initial heat sensation that engulfed you was not enough when you first entered the unit (this unit is the uppermost unit on the 7th storey), you stood baffled by the scene surrounding you. This is the most ridiculously designed balcony I've ever seen. Instead of getting a clear open view of the outdoor, the balcony has something like a facade sticking out like a sore thumb and it blocked whatever that you're suppose to see ahead and below. In the master bedroom, right outside the window, you see the aircon condenser on the side of the balcony. Overall, all the rooms (including toilets, the kitchen and yard) are very small and stuffy To all potential home buyers, 2 points to stick by when looking for a home - view the unit on a normal (hot) day and DON"T buy a 'penthouse' (1 level) on the highest floor. Believe me, at the end of the day after a hard day's work, you don't want to come home to a place trapped with heat and radiation all day long!

    Well Designed Development!

    It is quite an irritation reading some comment. Want to avoid noise and sun light? Go find and stay in a windowless house. Balcony to dry cloths? Please change your kampong habit. The vast greenery/hill scene that the front facing units get to enjoy is not easy to come by, in developed Singapore. Its a pity that some people just do not have what it takes to appreciate.

    The truth about The Linear

    It's amusing to read some of the reviews here as I can't help feeling that they are either being plain ignorant or just speculating. I'm a resident at the Linear since 2008. I want to say, the front units DO NOT look out to Bukit Timah Hill. The greenery you see(at the MINDEF side) is not BTH. It is al least 7 bus stops further up heading to the direction of BT Nature Reserve. How can the front units not be noisy when they're that close to Upper Bukit Timah Road? Besides the regular traffic noise in the day, who wants to be rudely woken up from their sleep at night by the sudden screehing sound coming from the motorcycles? And the afternoon sun. If you have a chance to sit at the bus-stop opposite, you will rarely see units with opened windows and curtain not drawn. Pretty balcony, a pity that it is also the best spot to dry clothes really fast
