As a resale buyer, can I view few other units and put out my option fee for few unit to try to go on the process of valuation etc and all as just to be safe if the first unit I try the valuation goes against me and I have to top up etc.

You can do so, as long as you do not exercised the Option To Purchase, and you do not mind losing the option money, you can go for as many as possible.

Once you have exercised the Option To Purchase, you are deemed to be legally bound to purchase the property unless HDB rejects the transaction. Hope this helps!

es, you can pay the option fee to purchase OTPs (Option to Purchase) for as many units as you like, as long as you're comfortable with forfeiting those fees. However, keep in mind that you can only exercise the OTP for one unit.

Hi

Yes its possible if you have enough cash to work with, as each option fee typically is 1k and valuation fee is 120 and payable once the OTP is issued, and you don't mind this amount to be forfeited each time. Ie. If you choose not to exercise the OTP, the amount "wasted" will be a total of 1120.

Hi,

Yes of course it is perfectly alright to do so as long as you don’t mind letting a couple of thousand dollars being forfeited. Cos firstly your option fee will be forfeited as long as you do not exercised it and secondly, most of the sellers are asking for $1000 min as the option fee and I do have sellers rejecting $500 before.

Timeline management, negotiation, valuations and offer strategy are key skillsets that a good buyer-agent bring to the table. If you work with an agent like myself, you can easily achieve exactly the "just-to-be-safe" / "back-up" outcome you are describing without having to go through the hassle of signing multiple contracts and putting down option money in various places.

By the way, working with a buyer-agent in Singapore typically does not require payment by the buyers themselves, as they are paid by sellers. So there is little reason for direct buyers not to work with an agent who can provide professional support and protect their interests.

When purchasing private property, buyers have the ability to place options on various units and secure an appraisal before determining which one aligns best with their financial capabilities. However, the 1% option fee and the cost of the valuation are non-refundable. This approach is quite a significant stretch.
