Hi,

I would be most glad to assist you further and pls feel free to let me know if you need any assistance. Have a good day ahead. By the way, did your agent notify you first before he even send you the invoice?

While it’s technically possible for an agent to claim commission after 6 months, it could be seen as unreasonable and unprofessional for the agent to issue an invoice so long after the transaction has been concluded. In practice, most agents would typically bill their commission within a few weeks of the transaction.

MY PERSONAL OPINION : if I were the landlord and I treasure the relationship of the property agent , I will overlook the mistake of
" forgot "and pay accordingly as after all , as a landlord I have been receiving rental income from tenant as a result of The agent efforts . If landlord don't buy the story of " forgot" > landlord can check with the Agency , Company of the agent about this . For my own experience , some of my landlord will be proactively to drop me a message saying to remind me to invoice them as they want to make the commission due to agent faster as they don't wish to owe anybody money

( Personal experience : even if some food Staller forgot to charge me , as customer who buy the food , I will ask tell the food Staller that they FORGOT to charge me , meaning : actually client can initiate to remind to pay , or client also " forgot" to pay and not just the goods service provider ??)...

ADVICE : just make the payment and keep the relationship especially you still want use the agent future services , if make the matters worse , agent can also demand payment via Agency legal department .Plus I believe the agent story of " forgot" because if he remember > I don't see why he don't want to receive his due $ to cover his EFFORTS AND MARKETING COST .

If he has done a job to help you secure a tenant for your place, then he should be paid. It is not about 3 months or 6 months after. As landlord, I feel it is also your responsibility to check with agent if you have not paid the commission for a job done. Read More
