Asked by
dear gurus, I am planning to buy a private property. I am PR and wife's PR application is pending.

a) Is it possible for both of us to be the owner of the property but only myself be the only borrower of home loan?

b) If yes, once my wife get her PR, can she use her CPF(in addition to mine) to pay montly installment of the loan since she is also co-owner of the property?

I am able to get suffiicent loan on my income and was thinking not to use wife's name in any loan records/credit history so that in future she will be entitled for maximum loan. Hope i am able to explain the scenario?

Hi Serious Thinker,

The moment your wife becomes a co-owner of the property (1st property), she will no longer be entitled to the 80% loan for the 2nd property as long as the 1st property is not fully paid up.

With more info such as the property you have in mind and your motivation for the arrangement, I'm sure many of us here would be able to advise you on your next step.

Feel free to call when you are comfortable to share.
