Prices are sky rocketing daily as inflation prevails.

Isn’t it ironic that rentals are stagnant or presumed to stay RIDICULOUSLY Low by tenants and agents?

This is because there is a contract signed between the 2 parties. For e.g., your monthly telco charges remain the same except for the increase in GST which is legislative change which everyone who is in Singapore is subject to. If you have just signed a fresh 2 years lease agreement and market crashes the next day, will you be ok if tenant is allowed to decrease the rental amount due to the market impact?

The increase in prices everywhere is also affecting everyone, and if you are a landlord where you have a spare property to rent out for additional income, you are in a much better position than many others. If the increase in prices elsewhere is making it difficult for you to keep up with the expenses, or your rental income is unable to finance the monthly mortgages, it is perhaps time to look into selling the property and look into other investment types perhaps where you will not have monthly mortgage stress.

Rental has been sky rocketing for past couple of years and it is only recently that we have experience slight dip so I am unsure how did you come to the remark that rental stay ridiculously low. Read More
