Are you looking at purchasing or renting a property? For your information, GST is not applicable for residential properties. If you are looking to purchase a commercial or industrial property from a developer, GST is applicable and paid by the purchaser, similarly to renting from a landlord who is a GST registered company.

It is advisable to do you due diligence to find out if the seller or landlord of the commercial/industrial property is a GST registered entity for your purchase or rental.

GST may or may not apply in property transactions, and as the name suggest (Goods and Services Tax), it is payable by whoever makes a purchase or enjoy the "services".

A Buyer may need to pay GST on commercial/industrial properties purchases, or GST on the commission paid to the Agent representing him/her.

A Seller will most likely pay GST on the commission paid to his Agent for securing a Buyer for his property.

However agent commission is subject to GST as it is considered a service transaction and to be borne by customers engaging the agent.
