Hello,
My fiancé and I will be moving into a condo unit soon. Just wondering is it a must (like mandatory?) for landlord's agent and our "agent" to be there during the key handover? If there is no landlord's agent during the handover, will there be any issue? What we are concerned now is, we are afraid that if the landlord's agent is not there, it will be hard for us to contact him further.
It is because we have been having issues with this "agent". He said he represented us, but when we asked him some really simple questions, he will reply only days later, or only when we said "can we have a response on it", which is so frustrated! Somehow our ex- agent will help us to transfer utility account holder from ex-tenant, informing management about the moving in and out stuff, so when we asked him about it, he brushed us away and said his job was only introducing us to the landlord's agent and has nothing to do with this.
We asked if we can get landlord's agent number and deal with him directly since what he said previously clearly meant that he did not represent us. I had to step in and help fiancé texting the "agent" as my fiancé was busy. I got an abrupt reply from him: "You are not my official tenant, anything should come from XXX", even though he knew us when we viewed the unit together twice, despite my name is not in the contract.
So, our plan is to deal with the landlord's agent directly after the move in. Not sure if the landlord's agent will be there during the key handover, but we got his details on our tenancy agreement and managed to search his phone number online too. Is it okay to skip the "agent" and directly dealing with landlord's agent? Will there be any unwanted issue?
