Hi, I am a single guy of age 33 right now. I am hoping to get my own flat, but i understand that one needs to be 35 to apply.

Am i allowed to buy a resale HDB flat?

I mean I would like to get married and apply for a BTO, but its unlikely that it is going to happen.

Is it cheaper to buy a resale flat or wait until 35 to apply for the singles scheme thing.

Hi,

Unfortunately singles below 35 years old can only purchase private property. They need to wait until 35 years before they can for apply resale HDB.

Unfortunately, for resale of hdb, you will need to be 35 years and above.

The only option now is getting a private property.

Hi,

You may have some confusion on some of the HDB rules. Even you were to go for a resale HDB flat, you will need to be above 35 years old to be eligible to purchase under the Single Scheme.

The only alternative you could go for now, if you really insists in buying, would be to go straight for private property. As long as you're above 21 years old, you will be able to purchase a private property. You need not get married to qualify for the purchase too.

But before anything, I would like to understand more on your needs and objectives for the purchase. Are you looking to purchase for your own stay? Or are you looking into the investment perspective?

Hi It really depend on your needs today. IT is definitely better to buy brand new from HDB compare to resale HDB. As it brand new and subsidies.

But this 2 is not the only option for you. There is another option like private property. Which u don’t need to wait till age 35. Many people will thought starting from HDB is it the best move and most protected.

This is not a wrong thinking as it normal to think that way. Just that when u see so many people losing money in HDB and get stuck in that property that they might not need is a pain to me.

Hi there, to be eligible to buy an HDB under the single scheme, you will need to be 35 years old, regardless of buying a BTO or a resale unit.

If you are buying a resale, there is no restriction on the unit type, i.e. you can buy up to 5-room HDB if your budget allows you to. However, if you are intending to buy BTO under the single scheme, you are only eligible for the two-room Flexi type.
