I am a prospective buyer of a unit. When is it necessary for me to submit my NRIC to the sellers' agent? Is it a violation of the PDPA if the agent asks for my NRIC before we have reached an agreement on the price of the unit?

Hi,

1) Before an offer for an OTP, price is just one of the discussing matters. There could be certain requirements from both the buyers and the sellers that must go through.
2) Only after all the above are discussed and agreed upon will come to the point of the offering of OTP.
3) The sellers' agent other than needing to show the buyer's ownership of the unit, the agent also needs to verify the basic eligibility of the buyers.
4) Showing the ID is a must for us to fill in the OTP as well as later submission of the resale application.
