i have been in Singapore now for just a couple of weeks, i have looked at some condos and decided on one at centrist, i am unable to find any information on the management and plans for upkeep and maintenance. all i keep seeing is the place is run down and very poorly managed. is this so or am i just missing the something. there always seems to be owners making the place look good and tenants saying it is over priced and poorly managed what am i to believe. how can i get to see any maintenance papers to see what plans they have for the place as my first viewing was a poor and shabby looking place. is there a management or tenant / owners commity. if so where can i find them and how do i get in contact, i cant even see a management office anywhere????

Hi Graham,

I have placed a tenant recently in this project and I have to say that in comparison to some projects which are of similar age, this is probably one of the slightly better conditioned project. Note that owners of the condo are required to pay maintenance fees over a fixed period and these maintenance are being carried out by the 3rd party contractors usually based on a contract with servicing timeframe. I am quite unsure of what exactly you are concern of in terms of poorly maintained in your opinion as this is subjective to different individuals. Are you looking to buy a place in this project or rent?

Hi Graham,

Judging by what you have put up, I assume you come from USA.

I used to live in NYC for many years and the apt maintenance there and in Singapore are very different.

In USA there is a SUPER, but not in Singapore.

The general maintenance of the condo compound are managed by external company contracted by the condo management.

depending on the size of the condo, sometimes there management doesnt even sit in the estate.

Maintenance of the interior of the units fall on the owners themselves.

    hello khim sorry you think i am American, i am actually British there is a big difference but anyway thank you for the reply. i am aware of the situation of Superintendents in the states and management offices in Singapore, i was asking what the situation and procedure was for this condominium, i did receive the Centris handbook and along with the reply most of my questions and concerns were answered. based on the information i was given i have decided to take the property and will be moving in shortly. once more thank you for taking the time to reply.
