I understand that a foreigner can buy a condo (freehold or 99-yr leasehold) in Singapore. What are the formalities? I believe that an approval from the Ministry of Law is required? How long does it take to obtain such an approval?

Hi DK;

Yes,foreigners are eligible to purchase condo in Singapore,both freehold or 99yrs leasehold.You do not approval from the government..Only if you planning to buy landed property in Singapore,then only approval from SLA is needed.Please contact me if you need more info..i have a few new launches all over Singapore that are great for investment or even own stay..Thanks

Thanks your question.

Apparently you do not need the govt's approval to purchase a condo, however a bank's indication on how much loan you would be able to get based on your income would be good to explore so you have an idea what to source for.

If you are looking to buy strata titled properties in Singapore, you are not required to seek approval from the government bodies.

First you might want to get a loan approval from the banks to determine your financial budget. From there, you would have a good idea on what are the price range that will suit you and I can recommend the locations and areas of interests based on your requirements.

The S&P process needs careful and confident planning in financial, timeline and checklist especially HDB, CPF, bank and lawyer etc. Recently my client 'suddently' bought a dream condo while 'holding on' to a HDB flat. They needed the extra 'funds' for the condo. Hence, after a series of planning, discussion and deliberation, they finally decided to sell their HDB unit.
