It will take approximately 3.5 months for the sale of HDB to be completed, from buyer putting deposit to seller handing over the unit. This is excluding marketing time to secure the buyer.

The transactional timeline is approximately 12 weeks on a straight forward deal from date of the option.

This excludes the marketing period which will be less predictable as it will depend on the various variables such as level, the condition of the property, sellers expectation etc. However, I did sell a unit in Senja within 1 month of listing.

Dear Mr Tay,

From the date we submit the transaction to HDB (Resale Application), it takes approximate 9 weeks for the entire transaction to complete if all required documents are submitted timely and no extensions required for both seller and buyer in the transaction.

This is not inclusive of the period taken to market the property for sale on top of the 1 week cooling period required after you have submitted your Intent To Sell on the HDB Resale Portal.

I have been in the real estate industry since 2009 dealing primarily with residential properties like HDB sale and rental, and have recently clocked in a number of resale HDB transactions. A typical HDB transaction takes between 9 to 12 weeks from the issuance of OTP to complete, depending on the case. Of course, there can be special arrangements for delayed completion too.

Briefly, excluding the marketing period, the option period is 21 days, followed by a 9 to 10 weeks completion period.
