I'm a Singapore PR and my wife is a 32 year old Singaporean. I have a property in Malaysia and I do not wish to sell it. We also wish to own a house in Singapore. Is my wife eligible to buy hdb resale flat by her single name?

Hi Sir,

Yes, your wife will be eligible to purchase a resale HDB flat under her sole name. However, you name will also be needed to be added in as an "essential occupier".

This also means that you will be required to dispose off all private residential properties. Should you have valid reasons as to why you should keep the Malaysian property, you may wish to appeal to HDB on the matter. Their decision will be on a case-by-case basis.
