In the absence of a formal tenancy agreement, then how did the existing agreement come about and what is the format of agreement? You will need to proof that there is an existing agreement in place in order to enforce your rights as tenant too. Why would you not have any format agreement then?

In the absence of any formal tenancy agreement, landlord may accept or reject any renewal and to terminate the lease anytime too.
