we had two subsidized HDB flat before we moved to a condominium. Now nearing retirement age, we are thinking of selling the condominium and moved into a flexi flat for about 35 years lease. Are we eligible to apply for a flexi flat?

The eligibility conditions are here. As long as you have not purchased a studio or short lease 2-room hdb before, you should be eligible to apply for the short lease. Both must be at least 55 years old to be eligible, and you need to buy a flat with balance lease enough to last you until 95 years old.

As long as you and wife are both above the age of 55 years old, you will be eligible to apply for a flexi flat. There is a BTO exercise coming up in July this year, you may want to apply for the HDB Flat Eligibility letter quickly so that you can try your luck in the balloting.

There are Eligibility Criteria for Short-Lease 2-Room Flexi Flats:
1) Age: You must be at least 55 years old.

2) Citizenship: At least one applicant must be a Singapore Citizen.

3) Private Property Ownership: You must have disposed of any private residential property at least 30 months before the flat application.

4) Previous Subsidies: Even if you have previously enjoyed two housing subsidies, you can still apply for a short-lease 2-room Flexi flat, provided you have not bought such a flat before.

5) There is also a Wait-Out Period:
After selling your private condominium, you are required to observe a 30-month wait-out period before applying for a new subsidised HDB flat, including short-lease 2-room Flexi flats.

Once you have met the eligibility criteria and completed the necessary wait-out period, you can apply for a short-lease 2-room Flexi flat during HDB's sales launches. These flats are designed to cater to the needs of seniors, offering flexibility in lease terms ranging from 15 to 45 years, in 5-year increments, based on your age and preferences.
