We rented out our property to an old couple. We’ve recently learnt that their son, daughter in law and their child are also staying in this property.

We don’t have any issues with this, but wanted to check if this exposes us to any risks and if we should be mindful about anything?

Hi, is it stated in the tenancy agreement how many pax and who is staying there? Also are they registered under the tenancy? If nothing is wrong, it is fine, but there are also chances of them staying illegally which could be bad for you, so best to check all these.

Dear Owner,
As long as they are all related, there is no limit to the number of people living in your flat. However, please ensure that you have a list of all the tenants, just in case, there is any illegal sub-letting. Your agent should be able to assist you on this matter.

Please contact me so that I can be of further assistance.
Cheers!

Is the family Singapore Citizen household and is this a HDB unit or private property? Minimally, you should have their IDs verified and ensure that they are legally residing in Singapore. For HDB units, you will require to register the family with HDB as tenants. Read More
