Good evening Sir/ Mdm,

it means that owners be it BTO or resale needs to fulfill a certain period (5 years) before they can rent the whole unit out (eligibility conditions need to be met), sell their unit or purchase a private property.

Hope my sharing helps in aiding in your enquiry. May I know how can I value add further in your property needs?

Best regards,

YT Tan

Hi,

Minimum Occupation Period (in short MOP) means the period in which you have to stay in the flat that you purchase before being able to sell it, or to rent it out. This is currently at 5 years for normal HDB flats, and 10 years for flats under the new PLH scheme (only sell, not able to rent out) just announced recently.

I am experienced and well-versed in both HDB and private transactions. I will be able to assist you in your property plans. Please get in touch with me for a more in-depth discussion.

Should you need require further assistance in matters relating to property, please contact me at my mobile 9748 6305  . I will be happy to assess and share with you the possibilities for you in the current market.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Robbie Chen

Hi,

1) All HDB owners and essential occupiers are obliged to stay in the HDB flat purchase for a minimum occupation period (MOP) of 5 yrs.
2) This is to ensure that the buyers need the flat for their own stay and not for speculation purposes.
3) This was initially applicable only to new flats purchased from the HDB directly. The resale flat has a shorter occupation period.
4) This was amended in 200x when it was found that some buyers bought and sold within a short period.
5) Now this is applicable across the board to all HDB flat buyers regardless of buying directly from the HDB or from the resale market.

Hope the above answer your main concerns, but if there are more query, please feel free to contact me at 90110636  , or email: ling.ck7@gmail.com if more information is needed.
I'll be glad to assist.

Best regards
