HDB has launched the tender for a residential-cum-commercial site in Punggol Town Centre, as part of a plan to create a vibrant town in Punggol.
The land parcel was made available for sale on the confirmed list under the government’s 2H2010 GLS programme. It can potentially yield up to 685 housing units and 50,400 sq m of gross commercial space for shopping and leisure.
Located beside Punggol Waterway and Punggol MRT station, the site has a total area of 30,000 sq m and a maximum permissible gross floor area of 126,000 sq m with a gross plot ratio of 4.2.
HDB said the development will play a key role in making Punggol Town Centre a vibrant centre of activity for Punggol residents. It marks an important milestone in realising the Punggol 21 Plus vision announced by the Prime Minister in August 2007.
A new Punggol Town Square will also be built at the upcoming Town Centre. It will occupy around 0.4 hectaresand is envisioned to be a “vibrant gathering space for community activities catering to Punggol residents,” said HDB.
The new development is part of a larger plan to create 35,000 HDB flats by 2015, similar to the size of Toa Payoh estate. More sites for private and public housing are in the pipeline, which will boost the population in the area.
The tender for the site will close on February 15 next year.
