Asia Square to feature Westin hotel

30 Nov 2010

Asia Square will feature a 300,000 sq ft, five-star business hotel, which will cover 15 floors within one of its towers.

The upcoming commercial development will offer approximately 2 million sq ft of Grade A office space and 70,000 sq ft of retail space.

The 306-room hotel, to be launched in 2013, will be run under the Westin brand by Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

“What’s really critical is that Asia Square will house the very first integrated five-star hotel for the New Downtown, adding yet another dimension to our strategy to build from a human perspective,” said Jeremy Choy, project director of Asia Square, which is being developed by private equity property investment advisory firm MGPA.

Asia Square will open in phases — Tower 1 to come onstream in June 2011 and Tower 2 in 2013.

Situated at the heart of Marina Bay, the hotel will occupy the 32nd to 46th floors of Asia Square Tower 2 and is set to serve business travellers.

Among its facilities include more than 11,000 sq ft of meeting space, a fully equipped 24-hour gym, an infinity swimming pool and a spa.

Matthew Fry, senior vice-president of acquisitions and development for Westin Hotels & Resorts, said: “The Westin brand continues to be a market leader in many established and emerging markets throughout Asia-Pacific.”

“With Asia Square’s prime location and excellent amenities, coupled with our distinctive wellness positioning, we are certain of delivering a world- class hotel that will redefine the Marina Bay precinct.”

Starwood Hotels owns nearly 1,000 properties in about 100 countries and territories. It’s portfolio of brands include Sheraton, Le Meridien and St. Regis.
