SLA opens three sites for public use

26 Jun 2014

The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) will open more green fields for public use, with three sites identified so far.

The first, which is already available for use, is located at the former Manjusri Secondary School at 149 Sims Drive. Measuring 9,084 sq m, the field is slightly bigger than a soccer field.

The two other sites – located at the former ITE Tampines at 2 Tampines Street 92 and ITE Clementi at 6 Lempeng Drive – are set to be open by end-September.

Other similar playfields will be progressively opened, and to prepare them for the public, improvement works such as levelling the playfields and grass cutting will be carried out.

The fields can be used by the public for free until as long as they are not required for impending redevelopment.

In fact, no advance booking is needed to use the sites, which are open 24 hours a day.

Since 2003, SLA has opened vacant plots of state land, including sites at the Bukit Timah Railway Station, Nicoll Highway and Tanjong Rhu Road.

To date, around 282 vacant plots of state land, marked by common signages (pictured), have been opened for public use.
