City Developments Ltd (CDL)’s Tree House condominium in Upper Bukit Timah is the world’s biggest vertical garden, according to the Guinness World Records.
Completed last year, the 2,289 sq m vertical garden beats the 2013 record-holder, Keppel Land’s Vertical Garden @ Ocean Financial Centre, which has a width of 110m and a height of 19m, said media reports.
The vertical garden also serves an important role. It filters out carbon dioxide and other air pollutants, and also trims the building’s heat absorption, saving air-conditioning energy by 15 to 30 percent.
“With the eco-inspired Tree House, CDL has not only created a place where residents are proud to call home but more importantly, a green icon which placed Singapore in the world map,” said CDL’s Deputy Chairman Kwek Leng Joo.
The 99-year leasehold condominium sold 397 units at a median price of $834 psf when it was launched four years ago.
