1) I am SG citizen and my wife is a foreigner(LTVP).
2) We are planning to buy HDB in SG (Resale) and, she has overseas property (loan payment in progress) but her family stays in that house.
So can't sell the house at overseas.

Are we eligible to buy house in SG (HDB Resale or any other home property) ?
Yes or No ?

If No , can we appeal to HDB stating the above reason (2) and can provide our income statement and my CPF statement (SG citizen) ? To buy HDB house in SG ?

Please advise ?

Given a genuine reason, I'll strongly encourage to appeal in your case. You may apply to buy a 2-room Flexi flat in the non-mature estates from HDB or buy a resale flat on the open market with your non-resident spouse. You may also look into purchasing a private residential property where your spouse will be able to retain the overseas property with no restrictions and that given that it will be the first residential property, you may apply for ABSD remission.

Hi,

1) With the implementation of the recent cooling measures implemented in Sep 2022. You will have to wait for 15 months after selling private residential property before being eligible to buy an HDB flat.
2) You will have to appeal to the HDB flat to keep the private property stating your reasons.
