Can a singaporean like myself who hasn’t owned a home before my mom who had but sold off maybe 2 times during our time and had a private property before also sold off now living overseas as permanent residents reacquire another hdb resale flat ( could be in either names or joint names ) and rent it it without mop with permission from hbd?

Hi yes, You should be able to buy another HDB either by yourself if you are above 35 or with your mum as a occupant if you are below 35. As for rental during MOP, that is subjected to HDB approved depending on the validity of the given reason and will be excluded from your MOP. Are both of you owners of any foreign properties now? If yes, then you will need to dispose off the properties first, and potentially wait out for a period of 15 months depending on your age before you are eligble to purchase a resale HDB.

1. **Eligibility for HDB Purchase:** If you're above 35, you can purchase an HDB on your own. If you're younger, you may need to include your mother as an occupant.

2. **Rental During MOP:** Renting out during the MOP period depends on HDB’s approval, based on the reasons you provide. The rental period will not count towards the MOP.

    thanks for all your answers,

    In a nutshell, my mom owns property ( a house ) here ( australia ) there is no such thing as public HDB flats ( unless is public commissioned flats for the very low income )or so I guess its considered private property., selling it is not what we want..

    So that leave the other possibility ( i don;t own any real estate yet ), so I can buy HDB if I can someone waive the MOP...( again Im permanent resident, living and staying here ),

    However, my concern and also qn is, if I ever buy a property in Australia , say investment ppty or to live in, what happens to the HDB flat I purchased in Singapre then.

    I also think whether its good to buy resale HDBs in the long run, yeah appreciated since the time my mom sold her home in singapore in 2008 or so, but as the lease nears its end....the value depreciates as i understand it....

Hi,

Are you a Singaporean, Single, and aged above 35? If so, you qualify to purchase a HDB resale flat under Single Scheme.

However, take note that you will need to fulfill the MOP upon your HDB purchase, and during this period, you will not be able to sell or to rent out the whole flat. You may choose to rent out the bedrooms, but in a nutshell, you will need to be physically occupying the unit (1 of the bedroom) to count towards the MOP.

There are a lot of restrictions in owning a HDB, and if your budget allows, I would advise you to go for private housing instead. You can buy a new launch as investment or a resale unit where you can rent it out immediately.
