Hi all, a real estate agent listed my property on property guru without my permission. She claimed that the other co-owner who is her friend told her to do so and 1 owner’s instructions is enough. Property is held in joint tenancy. May I ask if she is entitled to do so?

By the way, that agent is not really wrong as she has indeed obtained one of the owners permission to advertise. You could also bring in your own agent too. And besides, if that agent gets you a low offer or a figure not what you are looking at, you could refuse to sign on the OTP too since you are a co-owner.

Hi,

1) This property cannot be sold without your consent since this is held under Joint Tenancy.
2) The agent should check carefully before putting this on the market.
3) In today's HDB process, only need 1 owner to put in the "intent to sell" request to HDB. Thus she might have misunderstood that only need 1 owner's consent to put it on the market.
4) Even there is an offer received. Your signature is needed on the OTP before this can be processed. Thus don't worry that the property will sell off without your knowledge.
5) Suggest you resolved any issue between yourself and the other co-owner before you take the next action. Whether to remove the advertisement or to continue marketing.
