Hi, can I make a complaint against a Property Agent who is unethical?
The seller of the flat is a Property Agent selling her own flat.
She did not mention to us that she was the owner and only told us when she was passing us the OTP.
Furthermore, she did not mention to us that she needs “extension” clearly which resulted in a miscommunication and we cannot do anything now because we have paid option fee and exercise fee. It feels like she is taking advantage of us because we are not being represented by any Property Agent.
Any advice? Can I proceed with not buying the flat and get back my money?

Hi, in this case, you can’t withdraw and back out from this deal as you have already exercised the OTP. Also, you may go ahead and lodge a complaint to CEA if you have some proof to back your claim.

You can choose not to proceed with the purchase, but you are not likely to get your deposit back. Also, if the Seller were to pursue the case, she can also sue you for damages resulting in the aborted sale.

My advice would be to take it as a lesson learnt, and to consider engaging a professional agent to act on your behalf for your future property transactions. If you're inexperienced, it's better to sort professional help. This way, you will avoid unforeseen potential pitfalls.
